The Immigration Reform and Control Act of
1986 was passed by Congress to preserve jobs for those legally entitled to
them -- American citizens and aliens who are authorized to work in the
United States. The I-9 Form was made available and is required by
law to be used by employers for documentation on all new hires. It
must be completed showing proof of their right to work in the United
States.
As a new employee, it is your
responsibility to show proof of your eligibility to work in the United
States. You have three days to show your new employer documents that
prove you are eligible to work. If you are unable to submit the
documents needed, you will be terminated from employment. |
